Chef Matt grew up in Marblehead Massachusetts, a small fishing and sailing town on the north shore. He started in the culinary arts business when he was 13 years old as a dishwasher in a gourmet food store. Luckily, he started cooking by the time he turned 14 and soon realized that’s what he wanted to do when he grew up.
Moving to Florida in 1992 provided a whole new world as far as culinary arts was concerned. Florida was known for its Caribbean and southern flairs and he was used to the northern comfort food, and finally got to see some unique styles and techniques of cooking.
He fell in love with some of the southern aspects of cooking and decided to attend Johnson and Wales culinary university in Charleston South Carolina.
Employed at Swan River Seafood since 1999, Matt has come a long way in the seafood world. With his knowledge of the northern fish as well as the southern fish, Swan River was the perfect restaurant for him.
